Kehelland School

Client: Cornwall County Council
Date:2008

Undertaken as part of the Camborne Schools Ecology Project (CEC also worked on Weeth, Rosemellin and Foxhole Schools as part of this project), the scheme provides a self-contained garden in which children can grow vegetables and flowers in a series of raised beds.  The design built on an existing shelter structure and planting areas and includes compost bins and a storage shed.

One of the principle features of the project is the solar powered watering system which automatically feeds water collected from the shelter roof to the beds.  The re-used tanks can hold up to 2000 litres of rainwater.  This allows the beds to be watered at weekends and in the holidays.

Planting includes a number of Cornish varieties of apples and pears.
