Habitat restoration projects are undertaken on land that has
been previously altered by former development or changes in land
use. Cornwall Environmental Consultants Ltd provides advice on the
restoration and creation of semi-natural habitats.
Cornwall has more derelict land than any other county in England,
with 12 per cent of the total national resource. This land is predominantly
found as former metalliferous mining sites.
Cornwall Environmental Consultants will:
Provide sensitive advice on the restoration of semi-natural
habitats on derelict land.
Advise on the creation of semi-natural habitats including grasslands,
heathlands and wetlands on land which has been altered by changes
in land management.
Undertake monitoring of habitat restoration schemes.

Project: vegetation establishment at Geevor tin mine Client: Planning Department, Cornwall County Council
A long-term coastal heathland establishment programme was devised
and implemented; this was followed by a three-year maintenance
and monitoring project in order to evaluate the success of vegetation
establishment.
Project: vegetation monitoring of restored habitats following
road reconstruction at Woodcock Corner Client: Transportation and Estates Department, Cornwall County
Council Vegetation was monitored following treatment of the slopes
of a new cutting with a hydraulic mulch seeding mix containing
native grass, wildflower and shrub species.
Project: Colliford Lake to Restormel water treatment works
pipeline Client: South West Water Monitoring of heathland along the route of a water pipeline
which crosses several Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs).
The monitoring continued for two years following pipeline construction.
Project: heathland restoration at Newlyn East landfill site
Client: Aggregates and Minerals Phased restoration of lowland heathland and scrub habitats
on landfill following infilling of the site with inert material.
Project: restoration of grassland habitats throughout Cornwall Client: Transportation and Estates Department, Cornwall County
Council Advice given on standard grass seed mixes to be used on roadside
verges, cuttings and embankments throughout Cornwall.
